My Wing History as I Recall

It all started in 1972 when a friend gave me an Honda 450cc for replacing his transmission in his van. it sat in the garage for some time till I decided to ride it{being a snowmobile rider winter only} got it out and seemed to enjoy it. So I traded up to a 750 automatic and then my wife could ride also and she really enjoyed it.As it turned out my neighbor would ride by on his big bike which i didnt know what it was and went to the honda dealer and found one a Goldwing 1972 w/farin,bags etc,etc. I purchased and the quest began: Dave {the neighbor} we rode all over and to my amazement no breakdowns in the hundred of miles we rode {not like my brothers Harley as he would describe always fixing}. I think the first year I put 25k on the odometer and another 25 the next year. I then ordered an 1993 Aspencade with many featuresand many bikes their after 1500 to the present 2006 1800 cant believe how they changed over the years no real problems just G.T.O. { gas, tires & oil}one time I replaced an battery in my 1500 of course it had over 50K on odometer. Hey' I even talked my brother into A wing its a trike for he is in his 70s.Wish it could have been sooner for his sake, but some people have a life span to get the message!!!! So if you read this and already own a Wing nothing else I can tell you, but if you dont take my advice quit spinning your wheels and check the Goldwing's out, you will be surprised and you can take from me riding 39 years enjoying the world on a Wing!! |
