Goldwing love affair!

My name is Bruce, and I own a 1986 goldwing aspencade sei. I am the second owner of this bike, but it only had 13,000 miles on it when I bought it from a riding companion. I am s was getting parts for that year of bike!till ridding that bike today, and it has just over 100,000 miles on it. I don't do much local riding but when I do go for a ride, it is usually over 5000 miles. I have been from coast to coast and border to border more than once, and from my home in Washington St. to points south, like, Las Vegas, Phoenix Az., California, and I just got back from a trip to Little Rock Ark. I love to ride, and I usually do it by myself, as I have no one to ride with, so I move at my own pace. Some days I will cover 700-800 miles, depending on the attractions along the way, but this trip was different. I spent a lot of time and money on the road with bike problems. I guess one could say that a bike that is 26 years old is expected to have a problem now and then. Well, I agree, but my problem was getting parts for that year bike! I spent most of my vacation either wondering if and when the bike was going to break down again, or searching for used parts on the internet. After my last break-down in Boise Id., I rented a u-haul truck and hauled it home.

I now have the bike repaired, but have serious doubts of ever taking it on a cross country trip again. I was told that I should look into buying a Harley for my next bike, they may give you problems, but you can still buy parts for even the oldest harley on the road, or( off the road for that matter). So, I went to the local Harley dealer and took a test ride on one of the most gorgeous, bigest, and best equipt bikes on the floor, and to my supprise, there was no compairison to the comfort that I have grown accustomed to with my goldwing. That was trully an eye opener for me, but I still have a problem with :no parts available after 8-10 yrs.

Editor's Reply: I don't usually advertise for any facility but you can usually get any part for a goldwing...newer or otherwise. The place I use is

I hope this helps keep your older goldwing on the road.....Richard
