1984 Honda Magna V65

by Larry
(Rome, Ga. USA)

I first fell in love with my V65 in March 1985 when it was sitting in a used car parking lot. I made an offer and rode the bike home. Having only 300 miles on the odometer I wondered why would someone trade in a new motorcycle being only three months old.

The used car salesman told me the first owner couldn't handle the bike and broke his leg trying to ride it, thus the reason for trading it in on a Camaro. I added the engine guard, saddlebag supports and the rear rack. Since riding it home the first day, I have gone through two marriages, raised two sons, who knows how many dogs and cats, they're all memories now with the exception of phone calls once in awhile or maybe a visit a couple times a year but through it all my V65 has stayed with me through good times and bad.

Since that first day I have put 19000 miles on the bike. Did the Dragon Trail ride a couple of times and so many trips to Daytona Bike Week plus side trips down to Key West I can't keep up with the number of times.

To me the V65 was the perfect bike, whether you wanted a cruiser or just wanted to burn the roads up doing well over 140 mph at times with more power than you could possibly want, even in overdrive the bike will accelerate and leave most bikes like they were standing still.

I've been proud to ride a V65 and now regret that my age is keeping me from riding it more often. The three day trips are a thing of the past now but memories live on.

Hope every owner of a V65 has as many good times on theirs as I have on mine.

Editor's Reply: Hi Larry, thanks for the nice story. Yup...age catches up with all of us and I'd like to personally talk to the joker who came up with the saying, "You're not getting older..you're getting better". Maybe he is just getting better at remembering that he is only getting older and not getting better...lol.
